![]() Darby is a one year old female Jindo mix who lives in Ventura , CA. She is spayed and is current on vaccinations. She weighs about 35 pounds. Darby was adopted from the shelter where she had been brought in as a stray. Darby is a great dog, just not with the 4 year old twins. She needs a loving home that does not have small children. She has shown dominance towards them and nips at their feet and hands. Her owner truly feels that she would not intentionally hurt them, but does not want to take that risk. She will knock them down and stand over them so they cannot get up. She is food aggressive with other dogs, will not do well with cats (chases mine all over and barks at them). She is high energy and would do well in a home with active adults. She is loving and very loyal. She is great with adults, but protective until she is given the ok. She has come a long way since she has been with me. She thrives on walks and LOVES to play fetch. She also loves the water, she would like a kiddy pool in the backyard to play in, it is her favorite thing!
Darby should not be placed in a home with
children under 14 years old. Please note all children must be supervised
by parents when interacting with dogs. Darby gets along with calm,
respectful and mature teenagers with a proper introduction. She sometimes
will bark when first meeting someone new. As with most Jindos, she
is not overly friendly with strangers at first. She will bark at first
and then become friendly wanting all of the attention.
Darby is energetic and loves going for
daily walks. Jindos must be walked on leash at all times since they
are not reliable off leash.
Caution must be taken around doors since
some Jindos have a tendency to door bolt.
She loves to play fetch, run, splash in the kiddy pool in the backyard, absolutely loves stuffed animals, chew toys, and bones from the market.
She is loyal and wants to be loved and love you! She will be a great dog for someone who does not have small children (older teenagers fine). She will go everywhere with you, however she gets a little sick in the car. She sleeps in the house all night and will not wake you up until 7 am or so. Sometimes earlier and sometimes later. She is a fast learner and responds well to treats, but especially praise. Darby knows sit, down, lie down, out and drop it. She is housebroken and is in our home when we are home, which is most of the day. Darby is an indoor dog who is used to living
indoors with her family. Dogs are pack animals and prefer to live
inside with their family members. She is housetrained and is well
behaved in the house. She does not need a crate. She sometimes
will chew on things, but she is only a year. She is told no, and
then the item is replaced with one of her toys.
Please complete an application and mention
Darby in the comments section if you can provide a loving and appropriate
home. Home visit and vet references required. Adoption fee $100. Loving
homes only who are looking for a companion.
