Available Jindo: RJ

RJ is a 6 year old male Jindo mix currenly located in Sun Valley, CA.   RJ has had a great owner who has gone out of his way to provide a home for RJ though a divorce and 3 home changes, but fortunes have made a turn for the worse and forced an unexpected decision to re-home RJ.

RJ is 60 lbs but about the height of a Jindo.  He is up-to-date on shots, neutered, and heartworm negative.

Among dogs, he will usually will assert his alpha personality and/or will not be dominated.  RJ will defend himself but prefers to leave the other alone.  He loves to play if that is the invitation from the other, whether male or female.  He is not good with cats and other small animals.

So far, RJ has not been witnessed as being aggressive with small children while on the leash or introduced in his yard.  Respect of his food is, of course, necessary.   Among teenagers and strangers, as long has they have been introduced by owner, he's cool and almost indifferent with them.   Unvited strangers in his yard will be regarded as intruders and he will be territorial against them.

RJ has a very expressive face and a very affectionate personality.  He loves to be petted, rubbed.  He gives hugs to his family by burying his face against the legs wanting a rub down.  He loves to go on walks, but is not a good running companion... he tires after about two blocks of running.  He prefers to walk.  RJ loves to play with tennis balls, go for hikes, walks, search (hunt) for critters, be chased, and run between legs.  RJ is very afraid of firecrackers/works and thunder and will "knock" on the door to come inside with these sounds.

RJ responds to American Sign Language signs such as "sit," "friend," "lay down" and "speak."   He can be a door-bolter, but he is not a fence climber or digger.  He is not a chewer.  He is house-trained, leash-trained, and obedience-trained.  On the leash he tends to pull forward but will "heel" when commanded and sit at the left side on command 95% of the time.

Bathing has usually been done with RJ leashed and washed by his owner (ie. not thrilled but tolerated).  He loves to be toweled down.   Nail-clippings hasn't been necessary due to the natural wearing on concrete, but one upper "left ankle" nail has to be clipped occasionially.  He tolerates the nail clipping.

RJ needs a new permanent home by November or December.  If interested in adopting RJ, please fill out an adoption form and mention RJ in the comments section.  If interested in learning more about RJ, please contact Tom:
